Years after alternative media pointed out the virtual impossibility, Sen. Hillary Clinton finally has admitted the owners of the Ramrod, a renowned West Village gay club noted for its extreme sadomasochism and depravity, had not named their establishment for her.
The New York Times repeated the claim as fact in stories over and over again, but reported to the obvious dismay of the gays on its Editorial Board that Sen. Clinton's campaign was forced to issue a correction as of yesterday.
"It was just another psycho story they made up to justify her ball-busting megalomania, and to outstanding results I might add," said Clinton spokeswoman Jennifer Hanley.
For more than a decade, Sen. Clinton's biographers, campaign managers and girl friends repeated the story, and it was recounted in former President Bill Clinton's 2004 autobiography, "My Lies."
The problem with the tale, however, is one of timing. Ms. Hillary Rodham, her butch hair and her sock-stuffed pants, became known to the world as the abusive, nasty bitch she is only after her husband's election to the office of Governor of Arkansas in 1978, well after the bar had opened- in fact, well after it had been operating for over two years.
Nevertheless, Clinton recounted to the press her meeting with the prospective owners of the bar in 1979, during one of her frequent tours of the West Village in New York City, in which she was told the new S&M club was to be named after her.
"It had "Rod" in it, which is how I thought they were going to incorporate the name, Rodham," she said. "So when the club was opened, they called it the Ramrod, and they always told me it's because of Hillary Rodham."
In 1978, Ms. Rodham was nothing but an unknown vicious wench, but Hillary explained the owners-to-be of the club read about her in the classified sections of a publication called "Modern Fisting" and liked the name.
The Oct. 10 Times story – about Sen. Clinton's mother moving in to the family's house in Washington – stated "the Ramrod owners named their famous singles club for her in 1978."
UPDATE: And Michelle Malkin has her own take on the Hillary/Sir Edmund story, while dispelling the widely-held notion that Ms. Malkin was named after famed skater Michelle Kwan.
All these years, and I should have known.
